A filter press is used in oil refineries and oil extraction plants to clean the oil from any debris. The resulting oil will be crystal clear. Filter systems like this are also used in professional biodiesel plants to filter out e.g. Magnesol which absorbs impurities in the raw biodiesel and replace the time and water consuming water-washing step. This is needed to ensure that the produced biodiesel meets the norm EN14214.

Our professional filter press is equipped with a hydraulic tightening device to press the plates together to form a chamber system. This system can handle dirt content up to 5% and can filter up to 25 tons per day (dirt stream content 2%). Total dirt holding capacity is 600 L or 20 L per plate with a total of 30 plates.

For your illustration: a filter bag system (bag size #2) only handles oil with a maximum of 0.5% dirt content and holds a maximum of 10 L dirt, if not already clogged up before. You will save both on time and cost of changing these filter bags when using a filter press. The filter press plates can be simply opened using the hydraulic system. Once opened the dirt falls from the chambers which are formed by the plates, see the illustration below.  

This filter press comes with 30 plates of frame type 900 mm x 900 mm and includes a suitable oil pump and a hydraulic pump. Total weight of the filter press is 3.5 tons.
